Hello Junkies! This past weekend I met some pretty dope individuals who showed me some pretty dope music. One of my favorite things in the world is staying up until 4 or 5 a.m. and just sharing music with people. It’s one of the most sincere, profound experiences people can have together.

I was super excited to make this playlist and this post because indie/alternative is a genre that I am just beginning to discover. I am so incredibly inspired by the artistic vibes of these genres, which made me revamp the design of my posts to be more visually stimulating!

This is a playlist of my top artists in this genre at the moment, but I know this playlist will continue to grow. Let me know what your favorite artists are at https://www.instagram.com/maddisenv/

The full playlist is available at the end of the post, but first, here are the highlighted artists:

My favorite track by them is Way It Goes off of their album Landmark, but I also love Golden off of their album Bambi. Check them out!

I’ve mentioned Hippo Campus in another post, but to reiterate, I love love love them. They are starting to gain recognition in the media, and are really up and coming. They have such a groovy and retro vibe that is really unique.

My favorite track is Gum, Toe and Sole off of his album Yellow and Such. Fun Fact: His song Of Lacking Spectacle was featured on the hit Netflix series 13 Reasons Why.

His music videos are also really fun to watch! Check them out on Youtube!

Gus Dapperton has a really interesting sound that is light and delicate, but still has a very old fashioned feel to it, as well. I admire his style and artistic abilities as an artist.

The track Easy Easy has one of my favorite music videos ever! Check it out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRzlbh4or3c&frags=pl%2Cwn

Red hair, British, lyrically brilliant…no, it’s not Ed Sheeran, it’s King Krule. His voice is grave and moody, and his style is unprecedented. Definitely a one-of-a-kind artist with super unique sounds.

My personal favorite tracks are idontwannabeyouanymore and
When the Party’s Over

Check out interviews with her on Youtube. She’s really interesting to listen to!

Billie Eilish made this particular list because creatively she is on the same wavelength as indie artists. She is vocally one of the most talented artists I’ve heard. And, she is unapologetically herself. I adore her personality and think she is truly one of the most intriguing people. At 17 years old, she is a true talent and inspiringly original.

One of my all time favorite bands!

Beach Fossils are one of my all time favorite bands, and I’ve mentioned them in other posts too. They are back on the light and airy side of this genre. I think they are perfect road-trip music.

My favorite tracks are Cadmium, Old Friends, and New Friends

Pinegrove are one of the best shows I’ve seen live. Their sound is so effortless and smooth, as well as different. It’s very simple and soothing. Evan Stephens Hall’s voice is incredible and a little quirky, but that’s what I love so much about their sound. His voice is incomparable.

My favorite tracks are Pink Lemonade and Give Me a Try off of their
album Glitterbug.

Fun Fact: The British television show, The Inbetweeners, uses their music a lot and that’s how I discovered them! (My Australian friend told me about them and the show!)

The Wombats are another group that I’ve mentioned before. They are super upbeat and fun to listen too, but also a little moody and dramatic. Their albums are very different from each other, but it shows that they have matured in their sounds. I put them on this list because I think they mesh well with the vibes of the other artists on this list.

Best track: Anything

Catfish & The Bottlemen are a popular group. I added them to the list because they are on the same wavelength as The Wombats, and I tend to listen to them together!

My favorite track of all time is Diazepam off of their album Peripheral Vision

Yes, I’m mentioning Turnover, AGAIN. They have made pretty much every single one of my lists at this point, but it’s because they really are THAT good. If you haven’t listened to them yet, you need to. It would have been an injustice to keep them off of this list. Seriously go listen to them right now. Check out my favorite track Diazepam.

Check out the track, Sometimes

Fun Fact: My roommate showed me this group!

Goth babe are another euphoric sounding group. The first word that comes to mind with them is wanderlust. They make me want to hop in the car and go on an adventure.

I love the track called, imreallytiredthisdaysucks. His song titles and album titles make me laugh.

Boy Pablo is calm and charming. His voice is beautiful and his songs make me wanna dance. He has a great mix of slow and simple to more upbeat songs.

Of course, Mac DeMarco made the list!

Check out the track Salad Days and Still Beating

Mac DeMarco is one of the first artists that made me start exploring this genre, and most people know him already. But, if you don’t go check him out. He easily is the epitome of this genre. His sound is chill and relaxing, in the best way. If you only check out one artist on this playlist, let it be him!

My favorite track is The Less I Know The Better

Another popular artist, but again, it would be a total injustice to leave them off the list. Hands down one of the most creative artists out there. They are really intense in a captivating way. I named this playlist after the vibes and sound of Tame Impala.

Also check out their music videos. Incredibly visually stimulating and thought provoking.

Favorite trackMulti-Love

I just found this group recently, but I love them already! A little more on the upbeat side, they still have a very groovy and retro feel, but with a modern twist.

Favorite track: Dope on a Rope.

I love their album artwork, too!

The Growlers are just a classic band that are super catchy and have kind of a mix between upbeat and moody. They have a dark undertone, and I really like that about their sound.

My favorite song is Call Me Up!

Finally, ending the list is HOMESHAKE. They’re also pretty popular, and for good reason. They have a very relaxed and melodic vibe, pretty different from others on this list. I think their sound is very unique and they have really perfected it. If you’re looking for slow, elegant, and cool, then this is your band.

That concludes the list for now! Check out the full playlist below! Be sure to check back for new additions!
