BRAT: The Playlist That Defines My Pop Era
If you know me, you know I’ve always had a thing for pop punk. The raw energy of bands like Movements, The Story So Far, and Citizen has been my comfort zone for as long as I can remember - they’ve been my ride-or-die soundtrack for years. Sure, my taste spans across all genres, from country to rap, but I always find my way back to the familiar chaos of pop punk.
But lately? Something’s shifted. I found myself tapping into a new vibe, something I didn’t expect—pop music.
I’ve never been the biggest fan of pop music. Sure, I’ll vibe with a catchy hit and belt out the chorus like everyone else, but it’s never been my thing. Until now.
It all started with one song called "Espresso" by Sabrina Carpenter. The track blew up on TikTok, and suddenly, I couldn't get it out of my head. I figured it was just another catchy pop hit, something that blows up and then disappears, but then Sabrina dropped Short ‘n Sweet and every single track on that album hit hard. Like, no-skip-list hard, and trust me, I don’t say that about pop albums. This girl had me hooked.
That’s when the shift happened. I thought, “Alright, let’s dive deeper.” I dove into the pop world, and —boom—Chappell Roan hit my radar. “Good Luck, Babe” was another one of those tracks that snuck up on me. But it wasn’t just a one-off. This girl kept hitting me with bangers — Femininomenon, Hot to Go, Pink Pony Club. The range? Unmatched. Her vibe is edgy, unapologetic, and undeniably addictive.
And that’s when I realized: this new era of pop is different. Pop artists today have a new kind of energy. It’s sexy, bold, rebellious—and most of all, it’s just fun. Artists like Dua Lipa, Charli XCX, and Billie Eilish are pushing boundaries and turning pop into something fresh. It’s not the bubblegum stuff I grew up with— There’s a whole new vibe here.
So, naturally, I had to make a playlist to celebrate entering my pop era .I’m calling it BRAT.
I never thought I’d find myself in a pop phase, but here we are.
If you're feeling this new wave of pop like I am, check out BRAT. Trust me, it’s a vibe. It’s packed with artists like Sabrina Carpenter, Chappell Roan, Dua Lipa, Charli XCX, Billie Eilish—all bringing that same unapologetic attitude.
